Legal Expenses

What is it?

Legal Expenses insurance is designed to help you cover the cost of making a claim against another party or defending yourself against a claim. A common example where this might be necessary is in a contract dispute with a tradesman or in a case of debt recovery.

While legal expenses are often covered as part of another policy (for example a motor or travel policy), you need to aware of the scope and limitation of the legal expenses element of such policies to ensure that you have the cover you need in place.  We can advise you on any areas where you may need cover over and above your existing insurance.

What does it cover?

Legal Expenses insurance covers the cost of solicitors’ time in preparing and representing your interests in legal matters. You will also have access to a helpline facility that offers confidential expert legal advice at any time.

The policy does not cover legal expenses that you might incur before notifying your insurers of a potential claim.

What having Legal Expenses cover means to you

By having this in place you can rest assured that you are able to mount a strong defence against any claims brought against you. Similarly you will be able to pursue any necessary legal action against another party without worrying about a potentially huge legal bill.
